This clothesline suits almost any caravan, camper or RV awning because it comes with two mounting systems. Use the hook and loop straps for a no drill setup, or rivet the u-saddles on for something permanent. The line itself is a full 6.1m, so once it is tensioned you either trim it to length or coil the excess away. Everything you need is in the kit, listed below. Read through all of the steps before you start.

- Heat gun or lighter, to shrink the heat shrink after trimming
Mounting with the hook and loop straps and coiling the excess line? You will not need any tools at all.
How to fit the clothesline
Choose your mounting method and location
Decide whether you are using the hook and loop straps or the u-saddles, then pick your mounting spot. We recommend mounting at the top of your awning arm uprights. Where possible, choose an area that gets sun but stays protected from the rain.
Fit the mounts
If you are using the hook and loop straps, wrap one around each awning arm at your chosen height and fasten it firmly. No tools needed.
If you are installing the u-saddles, roll out and set up your awning first. Measure and mark the hole positions on the awning arms, then drill them using a 4mm drill bit. Using a rivet gun and the supplied rivets, secure the u-saddles to the awning arms.
Attach and tension the line
Attach both ends of the stainless steel line to your mounts using the supplied carabiners. Feed the line through the adjustment fitting and pull it through until the line is taut.
Do not cut anything yet. Get the line tensioned exactly where you want it first.
Deal with the excess line
You now have two options for the leftover line.
Option A Trim it to length
The heat shrink must go on before you cut, so follow this order:
- With the line tensioned, work out your cut point and leave roughly 100mm of excess.
- Slide the heat shrink onto the line from the loose end and move it past the cut point, onto the section you are keeping.
- Cut the line using a pair of bolt cutters.
- Slide the heat shrink back over the cut end so it covers the tip completely.
- Shrink it down with a heat gun or a lighter, working evenly around the tube until it grips the wire.
The heat shrink stops the wire strands splaying and keeps the cut end from catching on clothing or fingers. Measure twice, a cut line does not go back.
Option B Coil and stow itRecommended
Leave the line uncut and coil the excess. Place the coil inside the carry bag and clip the bag to the carabiner using the zip pull, keeping everything neat and tidy while in use. This keeps the line at full length so it can be adjusted to suit different setups in future.
Wipe the line down before your first load
Run the full length of the line through a cloth with warm, soapy water, then dry it off. Every now and then a small amount of residue is left over from manufacturing, and you do not want that transferring onto clean washing. It takes about a minute and is worth doing before anything goes on the line.
Final check
The line should sit firm and taut with both carabiners closed and the mounts holding securely. Load it up and you are done.
Never tow with the line up. Unclip the line and stow it in the carry bag before you head off. The mounts can stay on the awning arms. A tensioned line has nowhere to go once the awning is packed away, and corrugations will work it against your paint and awning fabric.
