How accurate are the Promore Products Automatic Tyre Deflators?
They shut off within 2 psi of the pressure you have set. The fine tuning markings on the body let you nudge the setting up or down if you want to sit closer to a specific number.
What pressure range can I set them to?
Anywhere between 10 and 30 psi, using the engraved markings on the deflator body. That covers most sand, gravel and corrugation pressures for both tow vehicles and vans.
Do I need to calibrate them before the first trip?
No calibration is required. It is still worth checking the first tyre with your own gauge once the deflator has shut off, so you know exactly where your set mark lands, then adjust with the fine tuning markings if you want it tighter.
How long do they take to air down a tyre?
Going from 40 psi down to 20 psi takes just over two minutes. Because you fit one to each tyre, all four run at the same time rather than one after the other.
Can I use them on a caravan as well as my 4WD?
Yes. They work the same way on caravan, camper trailer and 4WD tyres. One set covers four tyres, so if you want to air down a single axle van and the tow vehicle in one go, you will need two sets. Otherwise do the vehicle first, then move the same set across to the van.
Do I set the tow vehicle and the van to the same pressure?
Not usually. Van and vehicle pressures are rarely identical, so each deflator is set individually. Follow the pressures recommended for your own tyres and load rather than copying a number off someone else's rig.
