Whether it is set up at a caravan park, parked between trips or in storage over winter, the front of your van cops the worst of it. UV cracks the tow plugs, salt spray and rain corrode the electrical connections, and the hitch, coupling, jockey wheel and gas bottles age faster than the rest of the van. It suits drawbars without a stoneguard and comes in two sizes, Large and XL.

Large Drawbar Cover
DBC-L
The original. Covers the hitch, coupling, jockey wheel and gas bottles on a standard drawbar without a stoneguard. This is the size most people need.
140cm long
Suits runs of 100cm to 140cm, coupling to back of bottles
XL Drawbar Cover
DBC-V-XL
The same protection sized up for a longer drawbar run, so gas bottles set further back still get fully covered. No stoneguard required.
180cm long
Suits runs from 140cm to 180cm, coupling to back of bottles

Both sizes are made from 500gsm UV-stable, fully waterproof PVC-coated fabric. It is not canvas. Canvas resists rain but soaks up moisture, stays wet and can grow mould on the cover and your hitch. This PVC sheds water completely, and the open underside lets air move through so your electrical connections do not sit damp and corrode.

Common questions
What size Standard Drawbar Hitch Cover do I need?
Measure along the drawbar from the coupling (the part that sits on the towball) to the back of the last thing you want covered, usually the back of your gas bottles. 100cm to 140cm takes the Large (DBC-L), and 140cm to 180cm takes the XL (DBC-V-XL). If your run is longer than 180cm, get in touch and we will help.
I have a stoneguard, will this cover fit?
No. This standard cover is shaped for drawbars without a stoneguard. For a drawbar with a stoneguard fitted, use our Stone Guard Compatible Drawbar Hitch Cover instead, which attaches to the stoneguard and covers the run between the stoneguard and the hitch.
Will it cover my gas bottles?
Yes. It covers the hitch, coupling and jockey wheel through to and including your drawbar-mounted gas bottles.
Is it actually waterproof, or just water resistant?
Fully waterproof. It is made from 500gsm PVC-coated fabric that is also highly UV resistant. It is not canvas. Canvas resists rain but is not completely waterproof and absorbs moisture, so it stays wet longer and can lead to mould on the cover or your hitch components. This PVC sheds water entirely and dries fast.
Does the cover have an enclosed underside?
No, and that is on purpose. The underside is open so air can move through and stop moisture building up on the drawbar and electrical connections, which is what leads to premature rust and corroded connections. The cover is cut long enough to keep the hitch dry in driving rain.
Will it fit over a toolbox?
No. It is designed to cover the hitch, coupling, jockey wheel and gas bottles, not a drawbar-mounted toolbox. If you are not sure whether your setup will fit, send us a photo before you order.
What if I have a bike rack or other gear on the drawbar?
Check your measurements against the specifications above. If you have something extra mounted on the drawbar, like a bike rack or a large electric trailer jack, email a photo and your measurements to sales@caravanmods.com.au and we will confirm the right cover before you order.
Can I leave the cover on while towing?
No, take it off before you tow. It is made to protect the drawbar whenever the van is parked up, from an overnight stop at a caravan park to long-term storage over winter. It is not designed for towing: left on at highway speeds it can flap, wear and work loose.
How do I secure the cover in place?
Straps on the underside and rear tension the cover and hold it down. There are also webbing loops on the underside, and you can thread our mini cable lock through these to secure the cover back to the van as a theft and vandalism deterrent. Mini cable lock sold separately.
