If your drawbar has a stoneguard, a standard cover will not sit right. The Promore Products Stone Guard Compatible Drawbar Hitch Cover attaches to your stoneguard, which holds the back taut, and covers everything between the stoneguard and the hitch, protecting your coupling, jockey wheel and electrical connections from UV, salt spray and rain while you are parked. Zippered side panels let one cover suit a range of stoneguard distances, and it comes in two sizes, Small and Large.

Both sizes are made from 500gsm UV-stable, fully waterproof PVC-coated fabric. It is not canvas. Canvas resists rain but soaks up moisture, stays wet and can grow mould on the cover and your hitch. This PVC sheds water completely, and the open underside lets air move through so your electrical connections do not sit damp and corrode.

Common questions
What size Stone Guard Compatible cover do I need?
Measure from the hitch coupling to the top edge of your stoneguard, taken level and parallel to the ground rather than up the slope (stoneguards lean forward, so measuring up the angle reads longer than the real distance). 45cm to 95cm takes the Small (DBC-SG-S), and 96cm to 145cm takes the Large (DBC-SG-L).
How does the cover fit different stoneguard distances?
Each size has zippered side panels, so it adjusts to suit a range of distances rather than needing an exact match. You drape it over the hitch and stoneguard and zip the sides in to your setup. The zips are self-locking, so they stay put and the cover will not creep open on its own.
Will it cover my gas bottles?
No. This cover protects the run between the hitch and the stoneguard only. If your gas bottles sit behind the stoneguard they are outside what it covers, so you may want separate gas bottle covers for those.
I do not have a stoneguard, can I use this?
No. Without a stoneguard to anchor the back, this cover will not sit correctly. Use our Standard Drawbar Hitch Cover instead, which covers the hitch through to your gas bottles.
Is it actually waterproof, or just water resistant?
Fully waterproof. It is made from 500gsm PVC-coated fabric that is also highly UV resistant. It is not canvas. Canvas resists rain but is not completely waterproof and absorbs moisture, so it stays wet longer and can lead to mould on the cover or your hitch components. This PVC sheds water entirely and dries fast.
Does the cover have an enclosed underside?
No, and that is on purpose. The underside is open so air can move through and stop moisture building up on the drawbar and electrical connections, which is what leads to premature rust and corroded connections. The cover is cut long enough to keep the hitch dry in driving rain.
What if I have a bike rack or other gear on the drawbar?
Check your measurements against the specifications above. If you have something extra mounted on the drawbar, like a bike rack or a large electric trailer jack, email a photo and your measurements to sales@caravanmods.com.au and we will confirm the right cover before you order.
Can I leave the cover on while towing?
No, take it off before you tow. It is made to protect the drawbar whenever the van is parked up, from an overnight stop at a caravan park to long-term storage over winter. It is not designed for towing: left on at highway speeds it can flap, wear and work loose.
How do I secure the cover in place?
Straps on the underside and rear tension the cover and hold it down. There are also webbing loops on the underside, and you can thread our mini cable lock through these to secure the cover back to the van as a theft and vandalism deterrent. Mini cable lock sold separately.
